Ange reveals new injury worry for Aberdeen match

Nir Bitton is an injury doubt for tomorrow’s match against Aberdeen.

The midfielder was treated for a head knock during the second half of the Europa League tie against Bayer Leverkusen then substituted in the 76th minute.

Bitton has started Celtic’s last five matches but will be checked out at training today before Ange Postecoglou finalises his side to face Scott Brown and Co tomorrow.

The Celtic boss told the Glasgow Times:

I was a bit disappointed to see Nir come off. In terms of how he is going to be, I’m not really sure. We will assess him, but he has been pretty influential for us and did well to help set up our second goal in Germany.

It was disappointing to have to take him off because I just felt we needed him in there just to help us control that middle of the park.

With Tom Rogic missing for a month the form of Bitton has been very timely, with a packed fixture list through December Postecoglou can’t take any risk with any player.

James McCarthy, Ismaila Soro and Liam Shaw would appear to be the next options with Liam Henderson in the sort of wilderness that Tony Ralston experienced last season.

Carl Starfelt and Giorgos Giakoumakis are also on the injured list with no updates on how close they are to being available for selection.
