‘Aye lets listen to Rae’ ’embarrassing comments’ ‘tactical advice from Rae’ Celtic fans trash tactic talk from failed St Mirren boss

With very few exceptions Celtic fans are very sceptical about the wisdom of pundits.

That boils down to two main categories- those that have footballing affinities elsewhere in Glasgow or those that have failed badly in management.

Alex Rae scores on both counts. A former Rangers player that flopped badly in management at St Mirren and Dundee, with both stints being in The Championship.

At Dundee he did manager 42 wins, 22 draws and 34 defeats which earned him another crack in management at St Mirren where he recorded 13 wins, 6 draws and 13 defeats.

Bang average at best but good enough to give him regular media gigs in the shallow pool of Scottish pundits.

This afternoon Radio Clyde were paying for Rae’s insight into the game with Celtic’s defeat from Bayer Leverkusen high on the agenda.

According to the former St Mirren boss Ange Postecoglou needs to drop his basketball style of attacking football. That seems as likely as Rae joining the coaching staff at Celtic Park.

Celtic fans know the flaws and risks, they are enjoying what they are seeing with the criticism of Rae likely to reinforce the idea that their new Australian boss is on the right track.
