James Forrest is in his best condition of the season according to Ange Postecoglou.

It is 15 months since the winger was a regular starter in the Celtic since, returning for a few games at the end of last season then playing a little in the early games under the Australian boss.

The last game that Forrest started was at home to Alkmaar on August 18 but after a solid fortnight of training through the international break he could be back in the side to face St Johnstone at Hampden tomorrow.

James is going well, he’s had a good two weeks of training, he’s at really good levels now. He’s trained really well, he’s probably at the best condition since I got here so I’m really pleased, I’m obviously very keen to get him involved.

Forrest came on as a substitute in Celtic’s last three matches before the international break with Postecoglou appearing keen not to push him too quickly.

With 12 matches to be played before the winter break on January 2 the return of Forrest fully fit and ready to contribute with goals and assists is a timely boost to Celtic’s hopes of success at home and abroad.
