Dedicated Defoe leads new Ibrox coaching team

Jermain Defoe will head up the new coaching team at Ibrox, as Graeme Murty knows it can turn into a medium term appointment.
The veteran striker was given a player/coach contract in the summer but has yet to make a first team appearance this season.
Steven Gerrard’s move to Aston Villa with five first team coaches has left Murray Park short on bodies with David McCallum and Brian Gilmore stepping up from their roles working with the starlets.
Defoe has recently been building up his media work, last month he was in the Sky Sports studio at Old Trafford while the club that pays his wages were in action against St Mirren in the SPFL.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was very publicly interviewed in London at the weekend but it seems that the recruitment process is on-going.
Dean Smith can be discounted from the contenders after taking up the manager’s job at Norwich City.
Some internationalists will be returning tomorrow with the clock ticking down towards Sunday’s League Cup semi-final against Hibs with the very real prospect of Defoe being in the dug-out wearing a smart club blazer and brown brogues.
