The Rangers International Football Club, formerly Sevco 5088, have fired off an angry statement after being allocated just 1,000 tickets for next months clash against Hearts at Ibrox.
During the first half of the season Steven Gerrard’s side were able to play Celtic, Hibs and Motherwell with no away support with only the threat of a protest through the SPFL allowing Hearts fans into Ibrox for the 1-1 draw on October 16.
Opposing teams are now returning the compliment. With a capacity of 50,000 at Ibrox Hearts were given 800 tickets surrounded by home fans on both side, Tynecastle holds 21,000 fans with a generous 1,000 tickets given to away fans for the match on December 12.
Playing to the gallery, as ever, the Ibrox club stated:
RANGERS can confirm that the away allocation for our match against Hearts on the 12th December is just over 1,000 tickets which is significantly lower than previous visits to Tynecastle.
Rangers has expressed its disappointment to Hearts regarding this reduced allocation and requested additional tickets are made available if possible.
The demand for tickets for this match is exceptionally high, with nearly 11,000 registrations received.
This has created very difficult conditions for the ticket allocation process. In light of the small allocation and exceptionally high demand, we have decided to only ballot tickets within the Gold MyGers Membership tier.
In addition to this, to be included within this ballot the Gold MyGers Member must have registered for at least six domestic away games this season.
As part of this process, a registration will only be considered valid if you have purchased a ticket that has been subsequently offered to you or if you did not receive a ticket that you registered for.
For the avoidance of doubt, this means that if you registered for a match and then did not purchase the ticket that was offered to you, your registration will not be factored in.
The phrase ‘for the avoidance of doubt’ is used to emphasise anger in statements from Ibrox.
At a Fans Forum Celtic’s acting CEO said that there will be no away fans at the January 2 Glasgow derby, Celtic’s domestic transportation is provided by the firm owned by Ibrox chairman Douglas Park.
