‘His opinion’s embarrassing’ ‘Is that the same Alex Rae that’ ‘he deserved to get sent off’ Alex Rae double standards highlighted

Late this afternoon the Daily Record decided to run with quotes from Alex Rae about Celtic’s late penalty against Livingston.

With management doors now closed to the former Dundee and St Mirren boss he spends his Saturday’s shifting between Radio Clyde and RangersTV.

From the comfort of his radio studio Rae claimed that Kyogo Furuhashi should be embarrassed by the way that he went down when struck by Livingston defender Ayo Obileye.

When you are unexpectedly struck on the back of the head it does come as a bit of a shock but the Radio Clyde pundit was happy to dish out an opinion that listeners to the show were prepared to accept.

During his playing career Rae was viewed as a competitive midfielder, more known for his tackling, running and getting stuck-in attitude than for his skills and passing ability.

Famously in his two year stint at Ibrox he was given a five match UEFA ban for kicking a CSKA Moscow player while he was on the ground. The referee missed that but such was the outcry that UEFA used video evidence to administer justice.
