Frank McAvennie believes that Giorgos Giakoumakis will want to take Celtic’s next penalty.

The former VVV Venlo striker has been heavily criticised for his penalty against Livingston, failing to find the net in stoppage time effectively cost Celtic two points.

Last season Giakoumakis was a regular convertor of penalties in the Eredivisie but with the pressure on after a difficult 90 minutes he basically choked on his first Celtic penalty.

A short run up followed by a less than full strength shot was easily held by Livi keeper Max Stryjek as 50,000 hearts sank.

That miss has been heavily debated by Celtic fans but if the hoops get a penalty against Ferencvaros McAvennie expects to see Giakoumakis looking to take it.

Speaking to the Glasgow Times, the former Celtic striker said:

If there is a penalty this week I can guarantee that Georgios will want to take it again. Centre forwards always want to take penalties to get their goals up. I am sure he will smash it if he does!

But I think if you have a penalty taker who is scoring goals you stick with him until he misses a couple. Then you can make a change.

Juranovic scored in a big game against Real Betis away. It was only his third match too. And he scored against St Johnstone. He has shown he is more than capable. I would go back to him.

Josip Juranovic has scored two out of two from penalties this season with Callum McGregor missing from the spot in the home match against Ferencvaros.
