No rush to appoint, but it isn’t going to drag on too long.
That was the confusing message sent out by Jo Hendry of Go Radio, official media partner of the club from Ibrox.
The weekend hype and excitement over talks with Giovanni van Bronckhorst have quickly moved on to the reality of Jermain Defoe taking a dispirited squad of non-internationalists training in preparation for a League Cup semi-final.
Less than a week after Steven Gerrard walked out on the club the impact of £23.5m of losses in securing an SPFL Premiership title are starting to be felt.
Had Gerrard been able to see off ten man Malmo the current scenario could have been avoided or delayed. He complained about the lack of transfer funds then jumped on a train to Aston Villa via London.
With the club’s desperate finances still fresh in the mind the blue-chip bosses that Sevco would love to attract are taking a step back with just the manner of how fan expectations are gently let down still to be agreed.
Talks ongoing today as Rangers continue the search for a new manager.
Former Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman never under consideration.
I’m told despite being in no rush to appoint, the process isn’t going to drag on too long.

? Rangers managerial update: Club say process is ongoing with several “really strong candidates, including candidates not mentioned in public domain.”
Adding they’re in no rush to appoint. Representatives met with Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Sat, Frank Lampard never considered.

? Rangers say they have received ‘no contact’ from Aston Villa regarding Steven Gerrard replacing Dean Smith.
Reports suggest the Ibrox boss is on a list of potential targets to fill the vacant managers position at Villa Park.

Lurking in the shadows are the realistic candidates led by Derek McInnes, Tommy Wright, Barry Ferguson, Shelley Kerr, Neil McCann and Robbie Neilson.
Get yer money on McInnes to be the next manager at barrasic park.
Obviously the situation must be that there are so many world class candidates begging to take Sevco onwards and ….well somewhere ! that they simply cannot decide on the man to match or better Gerrards stupendous 1 from 9 trophy record. Van Bonkershorst (to even consider it) and Gattuso have obviously thought too long and hard about the old clubs EBT days and have not realised that the new club don’t seem to have that option as yet..
Shelley Kerr really thats a strange one
