A report from Japan has credited Celtic with an interest in Kasper Junker.

The Danish striker has made a big impact at Urawa Reds (scoring nine goals in 20 league appearances) but with his contract running to the end of the 2022 season it is likely that in January he will either extend his J-League deal or be sold.

Junker made his name at Bodo Glimt in the Norwegian league which has previously provided Celtic with Stefan Johansen, Mikael Lustig and Kris Ajer.

With Giorgos Giakoumakis still to settle and Albian Ajeti drifting out of contention bring in extra firepower to compete with and compliment Kyogo Furuhashi will be one of Ange Postecoglou’s priorities when the transfer window opens in January.

Japanese website Sakanowa reports:

Danish forward Kasper Junker of the J1 League Urawa Reds is once again enthusiastic. This time from England, the home country of soccer. Six clubs, including the Scottish 1st Division Celtic FC and the England Championship (actually the 2nd Division) Derby County FC, want this striker.

Derby can safely be discounted from making a move in January as they sit in administration and heading for League One despite impressive results under Wayne Rooney.

Celtic have also been linked with Daizen Maeda of Yokohama F Marinos with Postecoglou on record as looking to sign players from the J-League following on from the success of Kyogo.
