Charlie Adam has thrown his name into the hat in the ring as Sevco begin the search for a new management team.

Steven Gerrard had hardly tried on his Aston Villa blazer when the former Scotland midfielder was on the phone to console Jim White in the TalkSPORT studio.

As well as taking his own huge ego to Birmingham Gerrard has also emptied Ibrox of five coaches leaving Jimmy Belly, goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart and Graeme Murty to keep an eye on things until a new manager is appointed.

Despite being on a playing contract with Dundee Adam is keen on a move to Ibrox with The Sun reporting his comments on TalkSPORT:

These discussions take place, there’s always names. In football, you know things change quickly. I am still playing but you can never rule anything out. Coaching is something I’m looking forward to doing when I do finish and do retire.

Rangers are a big club, and whoever comes in will be looking to bring their own people in because Steven [Gerrard] obviously has a big staff and he’s taking the majority with him, probably all of them. Rangers will be looking to fill positions and we’ll see where that goes.

Frank Lampard has ruled himself out of contention but Derek McInnes, Gio van Bronckhorst, Rino Gattuso, Alex Rae, Shelley Kerr and Nuno Espirito Santo are all believed to be contenders to succeed Gerrard.
