Richard Gough wants Allan McGregor and Steve Davis to inform Connor Goldson that he plays for a club built on No Surrender.

The former Scotland defender made the claim on Radio Scotland last night after admitting that he hadn’t watched Sunday’s League Cup semi-final defeat from Hibs.

After that humbling result Goldson went on television and confessed that the match was over at 3-1 which struck a raw nerve with the gullibles.

Gough spent a decade playing at Ibrox and knows exactly what No Surrender means, applying it to a club formed in 2012 that has lost cup ties to Forfar Athletic, Dundee United, Inverness Caley Thistle, St Mirren, Hearts, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and twice to Hibs at Hampden.

It was a rambling appearance from Gough as he harked back to the good old days when players punched lumps out of each other to sort out problems with other traditions that were put down as high-jinks for team bonding purposes.

Picking up on his appearance on BBC Sportsound, The Sun reports:

Our club is built on an ethos of no surrender. And we don’t surrender. We’re not going to surrender games at half time when 3-1 down.

If I was an experienced player in that dressing room like Allan McGregor or Steven Davis then I’d be having a word with that young man who has maybe played at Shrewsbury and Brighton and saying ’the game is never over’.

The young man that Gough is referring to will be 29 next month, he has played in 52 European ties since July 2018

Hosts Kenny MacIntyre and Tom English made no effort to apologise or interrupt Gough who used that phrase a number of times. In April 2020 Gregory Campbell of the DUP was a guest with English and Richard Gordon on Saturday Sportsound.

No surrender…..is he having a laugh. If I was the face painter or one of the poor people who lost money to the OLD CLUB, I wouldn’t surrender until I got my money back. All the cheats who profited from their tax dodge should have put their hands in their pockets and paid these poor people.
