Daizen Maeda bagged a hat-trick for Yokohama F Marinos with his manager begging for the match video not to be shown in Europe.

Last month the 24-year-old striker was heavily linked with a move to Celtic who just happen to be managed by his former boss.

Kevin Muscat has replaced Ange Postecoglou in the Marinos hotseat with his comments also carrying the sort of endorsement to put Maeda in the shop window.

The striker took his tally for the season to 20 from 33 starting appearances in the J-League with a hat-trick against Tokyo that will have been well documented by watching scouts.

The Sun reports:

Interviewed on TV after the game, Muscat quipped: “Please don’t broadcast that in Europe! He’s one of those dream players for a manager because he can play in any position up front across the pitch.

“Daizen is a fantastic player who has the flexibility and speed to play as a target man striker, off the main striker or on either wing. It was another great performance from him, but that’s what he has been doing all season.”

Maeda is under contract with Marinos until January 2024 but after Celtic cut a deal to release Postecoglou in mid-season they should be able to agree terms for Maeda if he is a January target.

The success of Kyogo Furuhashi at Celtic will have opened doors for the hoops into the J League with the success of the former Kobe Vissel man being closely watched across Japan.
