Shameless Steven Gerrard had dinner in London last night with Christian Puslow as they discussed plans for Aston Villa.
There has been no official word out of Ibrox but last night a report in The Telegraph claimed that Villa had been given permission to discuss their vacanct manager’s job with Gerrard.
At a club where dignity and respect are apparently everything it seems that the former England skipper is determined to trash his legacy by the manner of his departure.
A tearful interview for ‘Rangers TV’ offering his thanks for the opportunity would have been more dignified than jumping on a train to London with every aspect of the move leaked to friendly media outlets.
Gerrard is expected to take five members of his backroom staff leaving Ross Wilson to decide if Graeme Murty, goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart or kitman James Bell is to take charge of training on Monday.
Barry Ferguson, Derek McInnes, Neil McCann, Robbie Neilson and Shelley Kerr are among the early candidates to take over from the disgraced Gerrard.
Breaking on @SkySportsNews: Steven Gerrard is expected to be named as Aston Villa’s new manager in the next 48 hours on a deal until summer 2024 (when Klopp’s deal ends, notably). Talks over backroom staff joining him, SG had dinner with Christian Purslow in London last night.

Will they though mate. This is one of the reasons I hate their current stance. It’s a major slap in the face to the fans
