It has been a while but yesterday, the eleventh day of the eleventh month, The Banter Years exploded back into action in full glorious technicolour.

For six or seven years from 14th February 2012 onwards Celtic fans have been served a regular diet of hilarity as their former city rivals died a death with the tribute act tripping over themselves to be relevant.

Ally McCoist was the central character in the early days. He certainly didn’t walk away from his incredible contract when the chance to visit Peterhead, Annan and Berwick came calling, for extra laughs he signed up Ian Black and Kevin Kyle for a journey that was over-flowing in highlights.

Yesterday Mister Gerrard made a lasting contribution with the highlight being a recent interview with BT Sport. ‘Don’t ask me silly questions then’ he smirked at Emma Dodds, three weeks later he was telling the world how happy he is to be manager of Aston Villa!

Cardboard cut-outs have been among the first casualties, framed pictures and shirts have been destroyed and binned, Radio Clyde erupted last night with anger and abuse of middle aged men.

A new manager will soon be in place, it could be Charlie Adam, Alex Rae, Shelley Kerr or Barry Ferguson that contributes the next chapter to The Banter Years.
