Aaron Hickey’s price tag is spiralling with the Daily Record claiming that Celtic were given a quote of £6.8m for the teenager in the summer.

Hickey left Celtic for Hearts in the summer of 2018 but the 30% sell-on fee that was negotiated won’t go far in the current market.

Kieran Tierney was in his prime when Tynecastle came calling but Celtic were soon getting a close up look at the defender as he played in the final SPFL match of the season as Celtic picked up the trophy then lined up against the hoops in the Scottish Cup Final at the age of 16.

Boli Bolingoli, Greg Taylor and Jonny Hayes turned out at left-back following Tierney’s departure, while Hickey is establishing himself in Serie A with Bologna Ange Postecoglou has selected Adam Montgomery, Josip Juranovic, Bolingoli and Liam Scales to play at left-back.

Covering the situation the Daily Record reports:

Hickey is proving a player of real dynamism and should be commended on his decision to head to Bologna in the summer of 2020 amid the pandemic.

And interested parties are circling around a player eager sporting directors across Europe would regard as the perfect ‘profile’ for their club.

Celtic were reportedly quoted £6.8million for their former academy kid in the summer and that price tag will only increase, as he continues to turn in eye-catching displays in one of the best leagues in the world.

Napoli have also been previously namechecked as potential suitors.

Hickey is the hot name among talent spotters and you can see why he would be viewed as the perfect long-term solution at Parkhead, as he provides the guile and attacking swagger that has been missing since Kieran Tierney joined Arsenal.

Last August Craig Levein claimed that Celtic had made five or six attempts to resign Hickey from Hearts.

Despite speculation Hickey has been left out of the Scotland squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark.

If we have a sell on clause that’s around £2 million balance £4.8 mil not bad in todays market cant be any worse than some of the duds celtic have bought over the last few years but who at celtic let him go and Andy Robertson whoever it was needs good kick in the b@lls.
