Celtic are ‘thinking about moving forward’ signing Jota on a permanent contract.
The winger came in on a loan deal from Benfica on Transfer Deadline Day and instantly made a big impact. Striking up a formidable partnership with Kyogo Furuhashi.
Jota’s form has left Celtic fans wondering why there is no place for the 22-year-old with his parent club but the loan agreement seems fairly complex with Benfica having all angles covered.
Any deal would give Benfica a substantial cut on any further transfer fee but having lost a string of big names over the summer getting Jota on a permanent deal looks like a sound football and business move for Celtic to take up.
Lisbon based A Bola reports:
Celtic are satisfied with the performance of Jota, 22-year-old forward on loan from Benfica, and are thinking about moving forward to the definitive purchase of the under-21 international. Fans and commentators are putting pressure on Celtic not to wait for the end of the season and investing in the definitive purchase of the forward loaned by the eagles.
Jota headed to Glasgow at the end of August, after undergoing medical examinations in France, and the loan agreement stipulated an option of €7.5 million for 70 percent of Jota’s pass for the definitive purchase of the player incarnate. Celtic have until the end of the season to trigger this preference, but the Scots admit buying the striker now. Several commentators and former players, such as Paul Lambert and Owen Hargreaves, have been pressing Celtic to move forward through Jota, as the price is low and the player’s potential is quite large. The performance of the day before yesterday, with Ferencváros, in the Europa League, increased Jota’s status. Celtic beat the Hungarian champions 3-2, with Jota scoring the Scots’ second goal.
Jota had an undistinguished season on loan at Real Valladolid as they were relegated from La Liga but Celtic’s attacking style of play seems to be perfect for him to showcase his ability.
While Celtic and Benfica have an agreement in place any transfer will ultimately hinge on the decision of the player.

We should sign this guy right now on a permanent deal, even the short time we have had him he is class, not just in the spfl but in Europe he has shown he can play ,we should snap him up now ,his transfer fee is peanuts to what he will eventually be worth ,I think we are looking at the next Cristiano Ronaldo ,buy him now even with a sell on fee to benfica we will be quids in , because rest assured this guy will leave Celtic for vast amounts of money even topping what we got for Kieran Tierney.
Jota is a class player will only get better if we do sign him won’t be long at celtic if he continues to improve game by game time will tell but at €7.5 mil not a massive risk in todays over inflated football market look at that dud burnie at Sheffield untd absolute dud £20 mil they paid for him .
