Some non-British Celtic fans have been able to buy tickets for tonight’s Europa League tie against Ferencvaros.

Yesterday Celtic announced that they had been unable to secure an allocation due to the British Vaccine Passport not being recognised by the Hungarian authorities. British citizens can fly to Hungary, stay in hotels, eat out and drink but attending football matches requires further documentation only available to European Union citizens.

Celtic fans from Ireland have the European Vaccine Passport with some able to buy tickets this morning from the Ferencvaros Stadium. A club membership also had to be bought with the total cost coming in at 60 euros.

Games on mainland Europe always attract a wide range of Celtic fans with supporters from Germany, Holland, Italy and Scandinavia usually in evidence on match day.

After losing their three opening matches Ferencvaros fans are unlikely to sell-out their own stadium for a match that kicks off at 9pm in the biting cold of November in central Europe.
