Steven Gerrard’s move to Aston Villa has picked up pace over lunchtime with Ashley Preece tweeting that the deal is almost done.

Preece is the dedicated Villa reporter fir Birmingham Live! Which is part of the Reach Group alongwith the Daily Record.

Last night Gerrard’s Ibrox exit picked up pace with the big hitters at the Telegraph reporting his interest in the job vacated by Dean Smith on Sunday.

Chris Jack of the Glasgow Times and Keith Jackson of the Daily Record were quickly on the story last night as they discussed compensation and a losing battle for the Ibrox board.
