James Tavernier has claimed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is being respectful to Dave McCallum by body-swerving tomorrow’s League Cup semi-final against Hibs.

At 5pm on Thursday Douglas Park announced that they had enticed the unemployed Dutchman to take over as manager- but not until Monday.

Van Bronckhorst will watch tomorrow’s match from the stand at Hampden, if things go wrong it has nothing to do with him, if the team wins he can look forward to the chance of a trophy after a month in the job. In three and a half years in charge Steven Gerrard won one out of the nine domestic trophies available to him.

The new gaffer didn’t want to disrupt the team ahead of Sunday. That is really respectful of him. I’m looking forward to having a great chat with him on Monday.

I have been in constant dialogue with Ross who has kept me updated throughout. I’m really excited and looking forward to this new chapter.
