There is no doubt- Ange sets the board his January Transfer targets

Ange Postecoglou is keeping up the pressure on the Celtic board to deliver new signings in January.

The board of directors were given a rough ride at Wednesday’s AGM with the appointment and presence of the engaging Australian their only consolation.

While Ian Bankier, Michael Nicholson and Brian Wilson looked uncomfortable facing shareholders the first team manager is very much a people person.

So far this season Postecoglou has put together a team that is pleasing on the eye and looking competitive, with a profit generated in the summer from the sales of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard.

The right signings in January can provide a timely lift to trophy prospects with the Celtic boss subtly laying down his expectations.

Postecoglou told The Sun:

There is no doubt we need to bring in and supplement some more in January. That will be dependent on the progress of the team.

I’m not putting timelines on it. I knew full well that from my perspective we had to make an impact from the moment I started.

This is not a football club where you can take two or three years to build a team. You have to do it straight away and I knew that. We worked really hard through the first window to make some changes to the squad.

We’ll do the same in January and keep building it until we get to the point where we’ve brought success to this football club.

Postecoglou is expected to return to the J-League in January to bolster his squad with Kyogo Furuhashi the star signing of the summer.

With two weekends off at the start of January the Celtic boss will be looking to conclude business early to give new signings time to adapt for the SPFL season resuming at Tynecastle on January 26.
