Greg Taylor could be back in contention for a place in the Celtic side before the turn of the year.

The defender suffered a shoulder injury away to AK Alkmaar at the end of August but returned to action against Ross County on September 11 where it flared up again.

Taylor’s injury set off a strange run of selections with Adam Montgomery, Boli Bolingoli, Liam Scales and Josip Juranovic all playing on the left with Tony Ralston established in the other full back position.

Last week Taylor signed a contract extension with Postecoglou enthusiastic about the return of the former Kilmarnock defender.

With Greg, he’s got to still get his clearance on the shoulder, but he’s doing everything apart from joining in contact training.

We hope he gets all-clear in the next sort of, two or three weeks. He’ll be back available and it’ll be great to get him back, as well.

Between Saturday and January 2 Celtic have 12 matches to get through which will require a deep dive into Postecoglou’s squad.

Ralston and Juranovic seem to be the clear preferences for the full-back positions but the availability of Taylor will allow some light rotation and cover for injury.
