Week by week, game by game Ange Postecoglou is recognising and revelling in the job that he has landed in his mid-fifties.

Six months ago managing Yokohama F Marinos consumed his energy with his family getting used to life in Japan when contact was made from Celtic.

Postecoglou faced a formidable task, taking over as manager of a club that didn’t have a recognisable infrastructure after years of dining on domestic success while the rest of football took to the global opportunities presented by the digital age.

After some very rocky days Postecoglou looks sure of himself and his ways in an entirely different environment to what he has previously been used to.

A core of three or four players have survived the handover with a brand new look and approach to the Celtic side shaped by their manager.

As he took the acclaim of the fans on a cold winter’s night at Hampden the two way warmth was obvious as Postecoglou drives head on into a critical run of 11 more matches culminating in the January 2 Glasgow derby.
