Celtic’s B team lost 2-1 away to Spartans tonight.

The young hoops scored first through Joey Dawson but the home side equalised just before half-time then scored a 90th minute winner just as they did last month at the Airdrie Stadium.

Tobi Oluwayemi, Dane Murray and Rocco Vata were all away on international duty after playing in Saturday’s win away to Berwick forcing Tommy McIntyre to dig deeper into the younger age groups at the Academy.

Dawson marked his return to the side with a goal in the 27th minute, finishing impressively after being sent through one on one with the Spartans keeper. In the 44th minute Kevin Waugh equalised for the home side.

Both teams pushed for a winner but as he did last month a 90th minute strike from Jamie Dishington denied the young Celts a point for their efforts.

CELTIC: Mullen; Luyeye, Easton, Corr, Paterson; Murphy, Letsosa (Deane 71); Murphy, Wylie, Summers; Dawson

SUBS: Roberson, Morrison, Dobbie, Kelly
