‘Bumbling mess’ ‘yet again making a fool of himself’ ‘impartial comments are interesting’ Kris Boyd’s arguments taken apart

Kris Boyd was again the focus for derision from Celtic fans as they watched the hoops beat St Johnstone 3-1 today on Sky Sports.

At midnight the Scottish Government had reduced crowds at outdoor events to 500 fans but that didn’t make any impression on the former Kilmarnock star.

With 10 of the 12 Premiership clubs voting to bring forward the winter break Boyd had to go against the grain but struggled to find some logic to back up his viewpoints.

Alongside James McFadden, Sky Sports had clearly decided not to put any deep thinkers on their gantry for the final live showing of the year.

One of Boyd’s classic comments was that it was embarassing for Scottish football that the lower leagues were continuing while the Premiership took a break.

It seems to have escaped the pundits attention that the winter break has been brought forward two rounds- not created or introduced.

The original plan was for no Premiership matches between January 3 and 26 with clubs back in action on the 22nd in the Scottish Cup.

That has been changed to December 26 to January 17- it’s not really a big deal but for one Sky Sports pundit it seems to be the be all and end all.
