Butcher misses Ibrox clash as he accepts three match ban for Turnbull attack

Calum Butcher has accepted a three-match ban for his ‘yellow card’ attack on David Turnbull at Tannadice on Sunday.

The 30-year-old will be suspended from home matches against Livingston and Hibs either side of a trip to Ibrox. Referee Don Robertson judged the horror challenge to only be worth a booking and will pick up another lucrative match fee from the Livingston v Hibs match tonight.

At the weekend Robertson will bag another match fee from Dunfermline Athletic v Queen of the South.

Butcher could have appealed the three-match suspension at a hearing tomorrow but has opted to accept the punishment offered.

The 30-year-old was returning from suspension when he came on as a substitute 10 minutes before his attack on Turnbull. Butcher has had five yellow cards and one red (at home to Aberdeen) in his last seven appearances.
