Pedro Almeida may have a blue tick and over 36,000 Twitter followers but Celtic fans were very sceptical of his latest Jota update.
On November 20 the Portuguese based account claimed that Celtic had advanced talks to sign the winger on a permanent basis, last night he retweeted that claim adding detail about a cunning plan to sell the winger for €30m.
Some Celtic fans decided to dig into past tweets to see if any previous claims had stood up, the answer was no.
Ajer for AC Milan and Edouard for Leicester City were regular rumours during 2020, in the summer of 2021 both players moved elsewhere.
It seems that this Twitter account likes to pick up on popular rumours, add a slight twist and see what reaction it brings in.
Celtic will be keen to sign Jota from Benfica but not at any price, however any deal will ultimately be decided by the player who has a Benfica contract running until May 2024.
He could be viewing his season at Celtic as the opportunity to prove that he is worth another chance with The Eagles or be hoping that his Europa League showcase has caught the eye elsewhere.
Almost all options are open with Celtic fans left to play detective as they put the pieces together hoping to find the bigger picture.
Celtic will buy #Jota pass to Benfica for 7.5M€ and plans to sell for 30M€. ??? #CelticFC https://t.co/s2N4zrFdrm

Plans to sell him when exactly? No club in the world would purchase a player at 30m after him being bought earlier in the season… if they wanted him that bad they’d start a bidding war with Celtic.. that and Benfica would demand a lot more if they knew celtics intentions

Bullshit. Nobody is paying £30m for a player who hasn’t played in the CL. Most we would get at the moment is £10m and the board would be mental to sell for that
