Cheeky Chappy McCoist is forgetful over his infamous pitch invasions

Ally McCoist was at his sharpest last night as he laughed at his own cheeky patter as he discussed Celtic’s late winner at Ross County on Wednesday night.

Having 50 to 60 fans on the pitch after Tony Ralston’s late winner was the main topic for the wit and wisdom of the manager who watched his side lose the 2014 Petrofac Cup to Raith Rovers.

Pitch invasions are nothing new to McCoist, back in 1985 he was racing through on the Jim Leighton’s goal when hundreds of fans poured out of the enclosure at Ibrox to try and halt a 3-0 defeat from Aberdeen.

A visit from the Dons always brought out the fair-weather Ibrox support, under Jock Wallace the team had started the season well but red cards for Hugh Burns and Craig Paterson ensured an even easier win than usual for Alex Ferguson’s side.

1 minute 28 seconds, Rangers 3-0 down to Aberdeen, McCoist on the attack at Ibrox when the fans pile on the pitch.
