Daily Record goes OTT with Alf Morelos rated on a par with Erling Haaland

The Daily Record is tipping Alfredo Morelos to end the Europa League hopes of Erling Haaland and his Borussia Dortmund team-mates.

It would be quite a turn around for the Ibrox men who have only beaten Alashkert, Brondby and Sparta Prague this year after getting pumped out of the Champions League by Malmo.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has given the Glasgow publisher fresh hope with the wheels well in motion for serious interest in the Ibrox stars from top clubs during the January transfer window.

Typically the headline is at complete odds with the comments from Jorg Albertz but no doubt it will provide a warm reassuring glow for the Record’s dwindling army of elderly readers.

The Dortmund defence hasn’t looked too convincing in recent games. I like Mats Hummels at the back. He is a player I like a lot but he has lost some of the pace he had at his peak.

Hummels though still reads the game perfectly and knows where he needs to be and when, so he doesn’t need to run much.

If Rangers can get him one-on-one then that is a weakness Rangers can get at through somebody like Alfredo Morelos.

Alfredo has been a big player for Rangers in recent seasons and especially in Europe so he could be very important over these next two games. He is strong and powerful and scores goals. That is exactly what you need in European knockout competition.”

Morelos is about to go through his ninth transfer window at Ibrox with the usual tales of clubs keeping tabs and monitoring events ahead of placing a bid for the former Colombian international ace.
