Ian Bankier has resumed his silent acceptance relating to refereeing matters involving Celtic.

At the AGM on November 17 the Celtic chairman was pushed off script about Nick Walsh and Bobby Madden.

Walsh had booked Cameron Carter-Vickers for getting twice kicked while grounded by Chris Kane of St Johnstone, within a month the same referee was rewarded with the Hampden League Cup semi-final between the same clubs.

Bankier expressed his deep concern.

It was also pointed out to the Celtic chairman that Bobby Madden had refereed three of Celtic’s first 12 SPFL Premiership matches. The Celtic chairman again expressed deep concern.

During the League Cup semi-final against St Johnstone Stephen Welsh was subjected to a deliberate elbow in the jaw. Walsh saw it and yellow carded Shaun Rooney.

Tomorrow night Madden is back on Celtic duty, at home to Hearts, the club of his good friend Andy Halliday. On Matchday 15 it will be Madden’s fourth Celtic match. 16 other referees have handled Premiership matches this season.

In light of the above I decided to contact Iain Jamieson Celtic’s Communication Manager. As recently as August 30, he had phoned me, unfortunately I got a text soon afterwards explaining that the battery had died on his phone.

At 4.14pm yesterday I emailed Jamieson a few questions, unfortunately he hasn’t replied.

Jamieson is a recent convert to fan-media, allowing a trickle of non-traditional outlets very restricted access to matters Celtic. Prior to the season it seemed that his understanding of fan-media was his log-in details to Jambos Kickback.

A full day is plenty of time to construct a reply. Either Celtic have no further ‘deep concern’ about Walsh and Madden or their Communication Manager is logged in elsewhere.
