Rocco Vata wasn’t letting Edinburgh University quietly settle into yesterday’s Lowland League match at Airdrie’s Penny Car Stadium.
The visitors kicked the game off, within a minute they were back in the centre circle doing the same again but trailing by a goal.
When Owen Moffat disposed a defender Vata was quickly on the loose ball, a few touches later he was in the penalty box and smashing his low shot past Jacques Heraghty into the net.

The Edinburgh Uni keeper went on to have something of an inspired game with Vata the main victim. Shots were fired in from a variety of distances and angles but Heraghty kept the scoreline down to 3-0.
Moffat scored Celtic’s other two goals with the two wingers providing the main attacking and goal threat as Celtic’s youthful B team get used to life in the Lowland League.
