Celtic appear to have advanced the signing of Yosuke Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka.

Yahoo Japan reports that agreement has been reached for a fee of 1m euros with the midfielder expected in Scotland before the end of the month to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the transfer.

Ideguchi had a short spell with Leeds United  and Greuther Furth in 2018 before returning to Japan.

Ange Postecoglou has remained very confident about his January transfer targets with players identified, not named, and expected in during the early days of the month.

Six months ago the Australian arrived at Celtic with a massive rebuild programme required, his second transfer window looks much more measured with Ideguchi obviously identified by the manager from his time in the J-League with Yokohama Marinos.

Yahoo Japan reports:

It was revealed on the 8th that Gamba Osaka midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi (25) was decisive for the transfer to Scotland’s first division Celtic. A formal offer with a transfer fee of over 1 million euros (about 128 million yen) has already arrived, but it turns out that an agreement between clubs has been reached.

There are still visa examination issues, but I plan to travel to the UK and undergo a medical check by the end of the year. Participated in 29 J1 league games this season. At the end of the season, his ability to capture the ball and his abundant amount of exercise returned and contributed to Gamba Osaka’s remaining J1.

This is the second overseas challenge for the first time in two and a half years since the summer of 2019. Although he has not been selected as the representative of Japan since November 2019, he will show his further presence overseas and return to Moriyasu Japan, aiming for the 22nd World Cup Qatar Tournament. It was revealed on the 8th that Yosuke Ideguchi (25)’s transfer to Celtic in the first division of Scotland was decisive. The success of Kyogo Furuhashi has set a very high benchmark but it seems that Ideguchi could be the first of three J-League signings with Reo Hatake and Daizan Maeda also tipped to join Celtic in January.

I hope Ange is as right about Yosuke, and his fellow compatriots, as he’s proven to be with Kyogo. He appears to be a grafter that reads the game well, has lots of energy and pace. Looking at clips and minimal written reports doesn’t give us too much to go on so its a case again of in Ange we trust. HH
