Aaron Mooy has been tipped to join Celtic during the January transfer window.
The midfielder ticks a number of boxes being an Australian with experience of playing in Scottish football.
Mooy is currently contracted to Shanghai Port but according to Lawrie McKinna his family is already based in the Glasgow area, a legacy of his time with St Mirren before globetrotting in Australia, England and China.
Getting players to uproot families to move to Glasgow can be a stumbling block in some transfer deals but in this case that stage may already have been negotiated.
McKinna has been involved with Newcastle Jets in the A-League and claims to be a long term friend of Ange Postecoglou.
Looking towards Celtic’s possible transfer activity next month, McKinna told the Daily Record:
Mooy would be perfect for Ange’s system – attacking midfielder who wins tackles and sets up chances. Fantastic set-piece player and I hear his family are already in Glasgow. I’d be amazed if they haven’t had a few quiet discussions.
Another one Ange could look at is Adam Taggart. He’s exactly the sort of finisher Ange doesn’t already have and he’s done well in Asia in strong leagues… always in the right place.
Taggart is a 28-year-old striker who is out of contract with Cerezo Osaka at the end of January.

Mooey would be a good signing but injuries could be an issue. Steer well clear of Taggart. He is a never was never will be player. Taggart would struggle to be a sub in the B team.
The Australian league brings in players like Castro. Fornarolli and Diamanti and others that were mid to low level players in Spain, Italy and Portugal because they are better than Taggart. Celtic need to go to South America where there a kids playing bare foot in the ghettos that are going to be dirt cheap and 100 times the quality. Rogic, Mooey and the two Scots that chose to play for Australia Soutar and Boyle are the only Aussies that are good enough to get a look in at Celtic.
