Wednesday’s match away to St Mirren will go ahead despite the Paisley side having to close down their training ground on Friday.

It is believed that a dozen of Jim Goodwin’s squad are self-isolating cutting their squad down to the bare bons.

A couple of Hibs matches were postponed earlier in the season but so far Scottish football has avoided the problems that forced five EPL matches to be postponed over the weekend.

Wednesday’s match was scheduled for the weekend but pushed back due to Celtic’s appearance in the League Cup Final at Hampden.

The Sun reports:

ST MIRREN’S clash with Celtic on Wednesday night will go ahead — despite the Buddies having only TEN fit outfield players.

Saints boss Jim Goodwin has seen his plans plunged deeper into chaos after a Covid outbreak ripped through the camp last week.

A dozen first-team squad members, including eight regular starters, and a member of Goodwin’s coaching staff are currently self-isolating.

They will all miss the rearranged Premiership showdown with the new Premier Sports Cup winners and the Boxing Day trip to face leaders Rangers at Ibrox.

But despite the desperate situation, SunSport understands the Saints board chose not to request a postponement of either game.

Celtic will also be short on bodies for Wednesday’s match but that is down to traditional injuries with David Turnbull the latest player to be struck by a hamstring issue.

The midfielder has started all but one of Celtic’s matches this season but was replaced by Nir Bitton before half time against Hibs yesterday.

Ange Postecoglou will be checking closely on his squad after their Hampden exploits with Kyogo Furuhashi being monitored for any reaction to his hamstring injury.

St Mirren play at Ibrox on Sunday.
