‘Get back in yer box’ ‘calm down with that nonsense Pat’ ‘stick to painting wee pictures’ Nevin’s Kyogo transfer call doesn’t go down well

Celtic fans aren’t thrilled by Pat Nevin touting Kyogo Furuhashi for a move to England.

Following the departures of Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie for the riches down south the last thing that hoops fans want to contemplate is the exit of their new hero.

During his playing days Nevin was happy to be a Celtic fan but that cooled as he took up his career in the media.

In a recent biography Nevin claimed that John Boyle offered him the CEO job at Celtic while he was playing for Everton but the former Motherwell chief shot that notion down.

Kyogo’s double at Hampden on Sunday took his tally to 16 for the season which will have been noted by English sides keen to get a hold of the next Kieran Tierney, Virgil van Dijk or Moussa Dembele.

After the turmoil of the summer the last thing that Celtic want to do is to be selling their top scorer and starting a fresh search. A January transfer would be suicidal for the club’s title hopes but recent history suggests that keeping top talents in Scotland beyond two years is a tall order.
