The Green Brigade has been praised for channelling the generosity of the Celtic support into supporting a Toy Bank collection at yesterday’s match against Motherwell.

Despite remaining silent throughout the match in protest against the rumoured appointment of Bernard Higgins the Green Brigade continues with their other activities.

The recent match against Aberdeen brought overwhelming support for Food Bank collections but with Christmas a fortnight away yesterday the focus turned to children and toys.

In other circumstances the Toy Bank could be seen as a cynical bid to garner support but throughout the season the Green Brigade highlight a number of charities and issues knowing that the Celtic support will respond generously.

Yesterday’s match was the last home game before Christmas, Ange Postecoglou highlighted the need for a united club after watching his side perform without the usual level of vocal backing.

Tomorrow the Scottish Government could announce new restrictions on public gatherings, Celtic’s next home match is on December 29 against Hibs.
