Celtic’s late win at Ross County on Wednesday night seems to have rocked right through BBC Scotland.
Their online team jumped the gun to celebrate a six point gap at the top of the table with Sportsound presenter Jane Lewis almost breaking down live on air. She seemed to spend most of Thursday trying to defend herself on Twitter.
Lurking in his own cubicle at the state broadcaster was Tom English, a man that rarely has a positive word to say about anything related to the sport that he has made a living from for the best part of 20 years.
Even readers of The Scotsman recognised the massive drop in standards when the egg-chaser from Limerick tried to slip into the pages previously graced by Kevin McCarra, Jonathan Northcroft and Graham Spiers. It was a colossal drop in standards quickly matched by circulation levels and advertising revenue.
Celtic’s late win at Ross County denied English and his BBC colleagues an early Championship party, on Sunday they’ll grudgingly have to cover a team in green and white lifting a trophy at Hampden.
Trolling on Twitter is about the extent of English’s talent, checking on every comment to see if there is any comments that he can bite back at.
Celtic fans know his motivation, after being left behind when the BBC selected their reporters for the Olympic Games and Lions Tour 2021 hasn’t been the greatest year in English’s bang average career with no sign of any upturn.
Celtic had eight international players in their starting line-up tonight. And another three on the bench. Against Ross County #barebones

You have one reliable striker at the club. He’s injured.

It has really, really rattled you, hasn’t it..and to such an extent that you felt compelled to take to here about it????

Cheer up Tom, your grasp of our beautiful game seems very minimal. When a football team loses not only ALL our strikers to injury but add onto that our two best wingers then yes that’s the bare bones.

Just going against the grain of the ‘Poor Celtic have no players’ theory, PJ.’
