Kyogo in line for UEFA honour

Taking time off from questions about the health of his hamstring Kyogo Furuhashi has been nominated for the Europa League Goal of the Tournament.

With 13 goals across six matches it was almost inevitable that a Celtic goal would be nominated with Ange Postecoglou’s side involved in six lively clashes that yielded nine points.

Kyogo’s goal against Ferenvaros was one of the most memorable moments of the campaign for Celtic fans, strangely it will probably be best known for the build up and assist from Jota.

The on-loan Benfica winger showed fantastic control and vision to deliver a raking cross-field pass that fell perfectly for his team-mate who cushioned the ball with one touch then struck the ball low past the goalkeeper into the net.

After two defeats in their opening matches and the ghost of Ferencvaros 2020 still lingered around but Kyogo’s opener set Celtic up for a well deserved 2-0 home win which was followed up by a welcome win in Hungary.
