On Wednesday evening a number of claims were made on social media that the appointment of Bernard Higgins to a senior security role at Celtic has been ditched.
Tellingly the decision appears to have been made by Higgins rather than the Celtic board who have a long record of indecision and failing to read the room.
Even the most head-strong character would be able to judge that the sustained, organised vocal and visual opposition mobilised by fans made his task of dealing with Celtic fans impossible,
Since the home match against Livingston on October 30 started with a half hour of silence from the Green Brigade the campaign opposing the appointment has grown momentum.
Banners and chants have been heard at every match since with a complete silence planned for tonight’s match against Real Betis and on Sunday against Motherwell.
Having dug their heels in so firmly it is unlikely that the men who placed their total backing in Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon will go public with a climb-down even though it would give the stadium the biggest lift since Jock Brown’s departure was announced before a match against Dundee in November 1998.
Since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers on the eve of the 2016 Scottish Cup Final the Celtic board have shown horrendous judgement and news management- it is unlikely that that is about to change.
More than one source saying Bernard Higgins will not be joining Celtic now.
Nothing from Celtic yet. If it’s the case, I expect some kind of white smoke soon.
Given the club have never officially commented on the appointment – Mail Sport or The Sun likely to do the talking. pic.twitter.com/CImaJ7FQE1

Bernard Higgins mates now saying to people he will not be joining Celtic despite a contract been signed. Looks like the protests have worked. Both parties talkin to come to an agreement to get out of contract. He’s meant to be goin to work for UEFA

Hope we get something communicated via any route by tomorrow or Sunday.
And just move on from this total clusterfuck.

They’ll try to bury it

Obviously Lawwell pulling the strings behind the scenes in appointing him and having to turn to his UEFA connections to get him out of jail , a terrible CEO made a fortune for a bang average performance over the years

If this cost the club money cause he has signed a contract, its missing management of the highest order!!

If true great news but this will cause some problems for celtic fans in the future he will have revenge in mind

The fact that he’s pulled out instead of the board pulling the plug speaks volumes.
