Cameron Carter-Vickers has named the two leaders that he’ll be leaning on in the build up to day’s League Cup Final at Hampden.

Despite winning eight of the last 10 domestic cup competitions very few of the Celtic squad have experienced the build-up, tension and drama involved in winning a cup final.

Scott Brown won’t be leading the side out at Hampden with today’s match likely to be the first final that most of the team have played in as Celtic players.

It will be a first Scottish final for Carter-Vickers who will be partnered by Carl Starfelt or Stephen Welsh with all three chasing their first winners medal as Celtic players.

The last four months have been a steep learning curve for the squad that Ange Postecoglou has developed with Carter-Vickers expecting two characters to come to the fore this afternoon.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the on loan Spurs defender said:

The spirit we have in the squad is such that we are all confident in one another when we’re playing in games.

We see our team-mates every day in training and know that they are all good players and will contribute when needed.

We have boys like Callum McGregor, Joe Hart and others who have played in big finals before and they are important players in a group that is fairly new and young.

They have that bit more experience and know the right things to say before the game and inside the dressing room so that can only help the group to perform its best.

McGregor has won the League Cup four times but today is his first final as captain.
