In the course of 90 minutes last night Ange Postecoglou saw the remainder of his strike force wiped out, probably until after the winter break.
With Giorgos Giakoumakis already out of contention the last thing that the Celtic boss wanted to see was Albian Ajeti and Kyogo Furuhashi hobbling off the pitch with that tell-tale clutching of the upper leg.
Conformation is awaited but it looks like there will be no first team strikers available in the seven fixtures before the January break.
In years gone by players like Cillian Sheridan or Tony Watt has stepped up to answer the call but in 2021 things are more complex.
@LewisLaird01 provided great context on B strikers – given his timeline a view.
Purely for academic purposes, here are the attacking stats for the B team primary forward.@videocelts pic.twitter.com/sTBFDHlPc0

More Injury Issues – Celtic B Thread ?
With more injury issues tonight, seems folk are keen to hear of possible striker options in the B side ?
A quick thread on possible attacking options that Ange could potentially turn too

Joey Dawson
Dawson currently holds the position as striker in the B side, scoring 3 goals in the last 5 games
Very different to the striker options we would currently look too – very tall but maybe not as mobile as Ange would be looking for currently imo

Adam Brooks
In my opinion the young striker is possibly the closest thing we have to Kyogo at this point in time
Now, that’s a big comparison to make and I’m not saying he is as good yet in terms of ability. But the young striker is quick and likes to press the opposition

Owen Moffat/Rocco Vata
Both Vata and Moffat are mostly wide players and have played the majority of their football in that position this season
However, they are capable of playing anywhere in the frontline and top the charts for Celtic B this season with a combined 16 goals

Overall, I think it might be slightly unlikely we see one of the B players be introduced to first-team action in this way – it would certainly be interesting to see
If one had to be picked, most likely for me, would possibly be Moffat given his first team experiences so far

Adam Brooks: 5 goals in 750 minutes over
Joey Dawson: 4 goals in 772 minutes
Owen Moffat: 11 goals in 1642 minutes
Rocco Vata: 5 goals in 1200 minutes
Five of Moffat’s goals were in the 10-0 win away to Vale of Leithen but the borders club have lost 116 goals in 21 Lowland League matches.
Playing in the Lowland League for the first time Tommy McIntyre is restricted to players u-20, in the forward positions 16-year-old Rocco Vata and 17-year-old Adam Brooks are among the leading goalscorers.
Vata and Moffat play predominantly on the wing but have been pushed through the centre when Joey Dawson hasn’t been available. Brooks plays through the centre but has had limited game time in recent weeks.
In truth none of those options appear ready at this time but given the opportunity they may rise to the occasion.
At the turn of the year Cameron Harper and Armstrong Oko-Flex were dropped in at short notice, tried willingly without making any real impact and are no longer at the club.
Recall the Griff.
Funny you should mention Tony Watt. ‘Loan to buy option’ ? He’s in good form and has dealt with his previous ‘attitude’ problems.
