Red card Walsh handed another critical Ibrox fixture

Nick Walsh will get another Ibrox appointment on Sunday when he takes charge of the visit to Tynecastle for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

The rising star of the SFA refereeing circuit has been in charge of two of Sevco’s first 15 matches of the season- delivering red cards to Ryan Porteous and Stephen O’Donnell as the Tribute Act collected full points.

Last season Walsh was trusted to take charge of his first Glasgow derby with Callum McGregor sent off in the first half. Porteous has had two red cards in over 100 games for Hibs, both dished out by Walsh in games against the Ibrox side.

Robbie Neilson has been heavily critical of decisions in matches against teams from Glasgow this season, knowing that Walsh’s day job as a PE teacher involves working with the Murray Park starlets isn’t likely to go down well with the Hearts boss.

Walsh will have Steven McLean for back-up at Tynecastle with the brother of a former Ibrox starlet the fourth official.

Neilson has been booked in his last two matches, away to Celtic by Bobby Madden and at Livingston on Sunday by Kevin Clancy.
