Ten days before a cup final against Celtic Jack Ross is waking up to calls from Hibs fans for his sacking.

Last night’s 1-0 defeat at Livingston was another new low with the SPFL Premiership record now reading seven defeats, a draw and a win at St Johnstone in their last nine matches.

The League Cup finalists have picked up 19 points from 16 matches with last night’s defeat including a missed penalty and two red cards in the closing stages.

Ross has to pick his squad up for matches against St Mirren and Dundee before he turns his attention to Hampden with both of those opponents within three points of the troubled Edinburgh side.

The mood around the club has completely changed since their semi-final win at Hampden less than three weeks ago with no obvious sign that things are about to improve.

Responding to the ‘sacked in the morning’ jibes from Livingston fans, Ross told the Daily Record:

It’s part of the job. I have done this for nearly 300 games now. By and large I have pretty positive times as a manager.

You know you will get criticised and that criticism grows when you are not producing positive results. We’re not doing that right now.

There’s times where I would be more defensive if I felt the performance was good because everyone judges it on the end result. But tonight all the criticism I receive will be justified because I am in charge of that team.

That level of performance was not good enough so the criticism should fall upon me.

Ross has been in charge of Hibs since November 2019, a year ago he was denying rumours that he could be replacing Neil Lennon at Celtic.
