Celtic are expected to trigger to option to buy on Jota’s contract according to Sky Sports.

The winger joined the hoops on loan on the final day of the summer Transfer Window and has made a huge impression on the side.

In terms of goals and assists the Benfica winger has made a big contribution and appears tailor-made for the way Ange Postecoglou sets his side out to play.

There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks about what may be in the deal between Celtic and Benfica with almost all fans wanting a permanent deal to be struck for the 22-year-old.

After discussing three potential signings from the J-League, Sky Sports claimed:

Meanwhile, Sky Sports News understands that Celtic are expected to trigger Jota’s option-to-buy clause before the end of the season.

The winger has impressed since moving from Portuguese club Benfica in the summer, scoring eight goals in all competitions so far. A fee of £6.5m was agreed in the summer with Celtic eager to take advantage.

Postecoglou has confirmed he will be without the 22-year-old for “a few weeks” after he suffered a hamstring injury in their 1-0 win against Hearts.

Jota is currently injured and appears to be unlikely to play again before the winter break, missing the League Cup Final on December 19 and Glasgow derby on January 2.

That injury brought an end to a run of five goals in six matches including goals away to Ferencvaros and Bayer Leverkusen.
