‘Sore face’ ‘Losing the nut’ ‘under his skin’ Daily Record reporter puts the boot into Starfelt

Michael Gannon of the Daily Record has delivered an incredible attack on Carl Starfelt, warning the defender to toughen up and not to lose the nut up north!

Against Ross County the Swede was subjected to a brutal attack from Jordan White, suffered a serious head knock with referee Alan Muir waving play on with blood pouring from Starfelt’s face. When the defender voiced his displeasure he was booked, within 10 minutes he had been sent off.

Rather than turn attention on White and Muir, in today’s Daily Record Gannon explains:

Speaking of the big Swede, he may have got a sore face but he’ll need to toughen up if he’s going to hack it in these parts. Losing the nut up north will only have put a bullseye on his back for Scottish strikers who now know how to get under his skin.

Literally under his skin, spilling blood.

No comment is made about a referee there to apply the Laws of the Game. As Starfelt prepared to deal with a high ball he was attacked by an elbow and a boot out of place that Muir failed to spot.

Jordan White is every inch the jobsworth striker, capable of hitting 10 goals in a good season but also able to damage an opponent or two.

Challenges like the one on Wednesday night are routinely accepted in Scottish football, strikers will know that they are likely to get away with it when Muir is in charge.

Why should Starfelt risk his health and career in Scottish football where ignoring the Laws of the Game is greeted with a warning that he should toughen up.

Will Gannon be warning David Turnbull that he needs to toughen up in these parts or he’ll suffer more sore legs delivered by players like Calum Butcher of Dundee United.
