Premiership clubs have until 5pm to vote on three proposals to alter the winter break but the ultimate decision will be taken by the 10 members of the SPFL Board of Directors.
It is reported that 10 of the 12 top flight clubs want to bring forward the winter break but the SPFL seems concerned about having to rearrange three rounds of fixtures.
The compromise option seems to be to allow the December 26 matches to go ahead in front of 500 fans with the next two sets of fixtures rescheduled with the week beginning January 17 an option for a full midweek card.
Clubs will be able to express their preference but ultimately the decision will be taken by the Board which consists of Neil Doncaster, SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan, non-executive director Karyn McCluskey along with seven club representatives with three from the Premiership, two from the Championship and two from League’s One and Two.

The SPFL has given all 12 Scottish Premiership clubs until 5pm to indicate their preference on when the winter break should be introduced.
Three options are to pause as planned after January 3, start the break after Boxing Day fixtures, or begin the hiatus before Sunday’s game.
The SPFL board is encouraging clubs not to vote for the last option which would mean there are no games on December 26 due to the few slots available to play matches.
If the winter break is brought forward to after Boxing Day, action would return on the week beginning Monday January 17.
Yesterday Celtic called for the winter break to be brought forward but didn’t state a preference over whether it should start before the weekend or after December 26.
Celtic are scheduled to host Hibs on December 29 and the Glasgow derby on January 2.
