Celtic’s B side enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win over Edinburgh University today with Owen Moffat scoring twice after Rocco Vata’s had scored in the first minute.

The goalscorers, playing on either flank were Celtic’s main attacking threat, on another day Vata could have had a hat-trick but the 16-year-old found the Uni goalkeeper Jacques Heraghty in inspired form.

Vata’s pace was too much for the Uni defence when he burst through to open the scoring after just 30 seconds- and set the tone for the rest of the match.

Midway through the half Moffat came in off the left flank, exchanged passes and although the final ball came off a Uni defender the young winger did well to follow the move through to tap in from six yards out,

Five minutes into the second half David Maskey was given a straight red card for a late lunge on Matthew Anderson, fortunately the left back recovered after treatment.

The best goal of the game arrived in the 75th minute, Ben Wylie chipped the ball into the path of Moffat who connected brilliantly to ping a half volley into the net.

Edinburgh Uni had 19 points from 19 matches going into today’s match.

CELTIC: Mullen; Murphy, Murray, Paterson, Anderson; Carse (Jackson 70), Letsosa (Summers 66); Vata, Wylie, Moffat; Dawson (Brooks 66)

SUBS Oluwayemi, Davidson
