One of the most senior football journalists in the UK has called out the lies of yesterday’s Ibrox story promoting the Legends Weekend for the most successful club in Europe to reach its 150th anniversary.Â
The claim is wrong on a number of levels with Nottingham Forest the first thought that came to mind to challenge the Ibrox fantasy.Â
Daniel Taylor knows his stuff, before joining The Athletic in 2019 he was chief football writer at The Guardian and The Observer.Â
As a lifelong Forest fan he has written extensively on the Brian Clough era when the European Cup was won in 1979 and 1980.Â
In season 78/79 Rangers beat Juventus and PSV Eindhoven to reach the last eight of the competition but lost out to 1FC Cologne. Forest beat the Germans in the semi-final then beat Malmo in the final.Â
Bizarrely in 2011 Malmo sent Rangers on their way to administration and liquidation by winning a Champions League qualifying tie. It’s A Funny Old Game.Â
In 1960 Rangers did reach the semi-finals of the European Cup, losing 12-4 to Eintracht Frankfurt despite the incentive of the final being played at Hampden. Real Madrid hammered Eintracht 7-3 in a memorable final. Â

Maybe the rangers will invite the 267 creditors still not paid by rangers fc who where liquidated as a result the rangers 2012 where formed and pretend they are the same rangers which we all know is a lie but in the scottish media and sky sports also pretend the rangers 2012 are the same club sad lot and corrupt .

The Board have no interest in calling out Sevco on the Coninuity / Survival issue. They have to protect the O** F*** Brand and the £Blue.
If they called it out, Sevco would not have a legal leg to stand on despite what the SMSM say.
