A night of shocks at Pittodrie as Sevco concede a penalty, get a player sent off and drop points to Broony’s Aberdeen

It was a night of shocks tonight at Pittodrie as Sevco conceded a penalty AND had a player sent off in a stormy 1-1 draw.

The result extends the gap at the top of the table to four points but for the first time domestically under Giovanni van Bronckhorst the Ibrox side have dropped points.

Ryan Kent became the first Sevco player to be red carded in 25 months when Kevin Clancy issued a second yellow to the former Liverpool star for a foul on Scott Brown.

In the first half it looked like another evening of honest mistakes when Clancy refused to award Aberdeen a penalty when Allan McGregor downed Ryan Hedges inside the penalty box. Within a minute Ianis Hagi opened the scoring.

Inspired  by Broony Aberdeen took the second half initiative, in the 73rd minute the unthinkable happened when Clancy pointed to the penalty spot when Alfredo Morelos handled the ball. Lewis Ferguson scored from the spot.

Ten minutes later Kent was sent off but there were no other shocks on the night with loan star James Sands selected ahead of summer Bosman John Lundstram.
