Giorgos Giakoumakis is ready to relaunch his Celtic career.

The striker moved from VVV Venlo on transfer deadline day but after missing out on pre-season training his Celtic debut was delayed.

Giakoumakis impressed with his debut goal against St Johnstone on October 23 but was a villain a week later with a poorly taken penalty saved against Livingston.

Things got worse a week later when he came off the bench against Dundee after an hour, got injured and failed to surface again in Postecoglou’s plans.

Daizen Maeda was added to Celtic’s striking option earlier this month but with a packed fixture list Postecoglou needs to have as many forwards available as possible.

The Celtic boss told The Sun:

Giorgos is back in. He’s done all the rehab. We gave most players the week off but him and a few others worked right through and he’s all good to go.

He’s trained really well and he’ll get an opportunity in the games ahead to show what he’s all about. There’s no doubt that with the fixtures ahead we’re going to need as many players as possible.

I think it’s the one area in the first half of the year we struggled with in terms of consistency of performance. We kind of have the squad now to be able to rotate and keep people fresh.

With Kyogo Furuhashi likely to miss tomorrow’s match against Hibs Giakoumakis looks like being involved with five substitutes available for use.

Postecoglou was heavily involved in the negotiations that brought the former VVV Venlo striker to Scotland after finishing last season as the top scorer in the Eredivisie despite his club getting relegated.
