Tom Rogic made the move from Alloa to Melbourne seem effortless, helping Australia to a 4-0 win over Vietnam with the second goal of the game earlier today.

The Socceroos look like getting the benefits of some missionary work from Ange Postecoglou with the midfielder transformed under his former international boss.

Last season was a virtual write off for Rogic, Neil Lennon’s disastrous management almost saw him sold off to the Middle East but thankfully he rejected that offer with both club and country reaping the benefits.

Having just turned 29 Rogic could be entering his peak years with 2022 offering an inviting prospect of Champions League football and another appearance at the World Cup Finals.

So far under Postecoglou he has been pivotal to Celtic’s successes this season, playing the Number 10 role to perfection with a solid blend of goals and assists with the focus on his football rather than fitness.

On Tuesday Australia face Oman in another World Cup qualifier, it will be too soon for Rogic to be back for the Glasgow derby the following day but Celtic fans can catch up on their favourite away to Motherwell on February 6.
